Condition
Overall the condition of the metal is good with some minor scratching and minor tarnishing. One of the settings on the shoulder behind the snake's head is damaged and there are chips to the diamond in this setting. There is a further chip to the larger diamond that forms the ring's head.

Rings in the form of the Ouroboros snake, a symbol of eternity since Egyptian times, appear in Pierre Woeiriot's, Libro d'annella d'orefici de l'inventione di Piero Woerioto di Loreno from 1561 (no. 23) and in the album of Arnold Lulls dated to around 1600 (see Victoria and Albert Museum inv. no. D.6:11-1896).
