Description
- Ring with quatrefoil bezel
- partially enamelled gold, set with a diamond
- German, late 16th century
together with a German silver gilt ring with a quatrefoil bezel set with an emerald, late 16th/ early 17th century
Condition
Gold ring: Overall the condition of the ring is good with some wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. There are a few nicks and scratches to the gold, and there are some dents to the edge around the setting at the top. There are a few losses to the enamelling, notably to the white in the bezel and the blue in the shoulders. There are minor chips to the diamond at two of the corners.
Together with a black and gilt leather box with black satin and velvet lining. The box is in excellent condition.
Silver ring: Overall the condition of the ring is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is wear to the silver throughout, including tarnishing and nicks. There is a stable fissure to one of the corners of the bezel and some warping around the setting. There is a small abrasion to the emerald.
Together with a turquoise velvet case lined with cream silk, inscribed: JUL HÜGLER / K.u.K. HOF-JUWELIER / ... &HÜGLER / WIEN / .. PETER. There is wear to the case throughout.
