Condition

Overall the condition of the chest is good, with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are several small losses to the wood veneer. A few sections of wood veneer are slightly warped, including to the lid. There are some minor losses to the wood around the edges and around the hinges at the back. There are nicks and scratches throughout, particularly to the lid and at the front. There is some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material. There is a slightly open split to the bottom of the left hand drawer. There is wear to the metal mounts, including some corrosion. There is particular corrosion to the key.The lock mount at the front is very slightly loose.
