Condition

Overall the condition of the trunk is good, with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age.There is wear to the leather throughout, including warping and dents and scratches. The lobes on the lid are warped outwards. One of the lobes at the front is loose. There is some fraying to the leather, in particular at the edges. The lock is slightly loose in its setting. One of the hinges at the back is slightly loose, which is noticeable when the lid is opened. There is some stable splitting to the cedar core consistent with the material. There are a few losses to the edges of the core, in particular to the top edge of the bottom section. There is some whitish residue to the inside of the lid. The underside is padded with four small pieces of felt. The lid does not close fully on one side.
