The Worship of the Golden Calf monogrammed: GN for Gilles Nens
Condition
Overall the condition of the reliefs is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The gilding of the backgrounds in particular was refreshed The soft nature of the alabaster means that there are a number of stable fissures and losses, including to the column and the kneeling figures of the Worship, the lower left corner and figure draped his cloak on the floor of the Entry into Jerusalem, the centre, lower edge and architrave of the temple in the Woman of Samaria, and of the right side of the Flagellation. There are restorations to Christ's hands in the Entry, the top left corner of the Woman of Samaria, and the top left of the Flagellation, where there are also losses around the restoration. There is a chip to the lower left corner of the Woman of Samaria.
The gilding and paint on the frames has been refreshed. Some polychromy has flaked off, particularly at the edges. The joints in the corners are slightly open. The cedar back boards of two of the frames have split due to naturally occurring warping. Each of the frames has a wire for hanging.
