  • Balegem limestone, on modern wood stands
  • South Netherlandish, 15th century

Provenance

private collection, Damme

Condition

The corbels are architectural fragments and only carved on one side. There is dirt and weathering to the surfaces throughout, consistent with placement outdoors. There are several losses to the carvings, notably to the moustache of one of the heads. There are chips to the high points throughout. There are a few rust-coloured stains to one of the heads. Otherwise the condition is stable. The wood stands are in good condition with some dirt and wear, including some stable splitting.
