Condition

There are several losses, including to: the edges, notably the right edge, the bottom edge, Christ's feet, the Virgin's chin, and Christ's perizonium at the proper right hip. The figures's facial features have largely worn. There are chips and abrasions throughout, in particular to the high points and to the tips of Christ's fingers. There is some dark staining to the surface around the upper half of the relief and on some of the high points of the lower half. There are possible remnants of an inscription to the top edge, and there are some black marks to the underside and to the top right corner. The underside is padded with four pieces of felt. Otherwise the condition is stable, with some dirt and wear consistent with age.
