Condition
Overall the condition of the ivory is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is rubbing to the surface due to its function as a pax. There were hinges to the left edge which were covered with pieces of ivory. There is a naturally occurring stable split between Christ and the Virgin. There is wear and tarnishing to the silver frame consistent with handling. The tips of some of the silver teeth, particularly those at the lower edge, are lost.
