Literature
G. S. Keyes, 'Jan Lagoor', in Tableau, 1, 1978-1979, p. 43, no. 30, reproduced.
Condition
The panel is uncradled and there are no signs of movement of stress. There is a small horizontal knock to the wood lower right corner almost hidden by the frame (approximately 3 cm.).
The paint surface is clean and thick, in good state of preservation. Except for the sky, where there are a number of very delicate discoloured scattered retouchings throughout, all immediately visible to the naked eye.
Inspection under ultraviolet light shows only the aforementioned tiny retouchings in the sky, and a handful of tiny spot retouchings in the foreground.
This lot is offered in a gilt wood frame, the surface aged, but otherwise in good condition.
