The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is covered in a dirty varnish. There is some thinning of the paint surface along the lower margin, and in the smaller figures surrounding the tomb. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows several large repairs: a thick band running down the left margin, from the upper edge to the two disciples standing on the extreme left, culminating in a circa 12 x 14 cm. repair in the red cloak of one of them. Furthermore, there is a 5 cm. horizontal tear above the tomb; 3 repaired damages at the centre beside the right edge; and an area of repair in the upper right hand corner. There is a horizontal repaired tear above the pair of flying putti and large vertical repair running from the Virgin's knee to the lower margin. Otherwise just scattered small cosmetic retouchings throughout. This lot is offered in a gilt wood frame with decorative mouldings, in good condition.
