Condition
The canvas is relined, which has somewhat flattened the paint surface. The varnish is even and slightly discoloured, and there is a minor degree of wear throughout. There is a small loss at the bow of the gondola, lower left, and two discoloured old retouchings in the sky, upper right, which are visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a thick varnish that fluoresces opaque, making any earlier restoration difficult to see, except for a few scattered, minor retouchings. In fair overall condition.
Offered in a gesso and gilt wood frame.
