- a pair, both oil on canvas
Condition
Both canvasses are relined. The paint surfaces are dirty but in overall in a good state of preservation. In the former, there are many small repaired losses in the paint surface visible under raking light. In the latter there are several scattered tears in the canvas, all these have been well-repaired and are only detectable under raking light.
Inspection under ultraviolet light shows the small scattered retouchings and repaired tears, and in the former, also a 40 cm. vertical tear extending from the lower margin, left of centre.
The pair are offered in matching carved gilt wood frames with delicate leaf decoration. They are aged and the gilding somewhat faded, but structurally sound.
