Condition

All the canvases have been relined, all the paint surfaces are stable and the varnishes are even and only slightly discoloured. All six pictures are in generally good condition, with no apparent major extant damages or loss of paint. Lady in the blue sash by the red curtain: There are a couple of small surface scratches in the lower right corner of the painting. Inspection under UV light reveals minor scattered strengthenings and retouchings in the craquelure on her chest. Gentleman in red with greyhound: There are some small losses lower left on the stretcher mark and scattered throughout. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals restoration in the foreground in the lower margin, and retouching in the craquelure of his cape and around his head. There are also some retouchings and strengthenings in the leaves of the tree, around the dog and around the man's legs. Lady in red with a cane: There are some small losses, upper right, in the sky. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some restoration in the left upper margin, scattered small retouchings, and infilling of some of the craquelure in her dress and to the right of her head. The other three pictures contain scattered, minor retouchings and strengthenings and are in overall good condition. This set is offered in gold painted gesso and wood frames in fair condition.
