- A village by a river with a sailing boat;A village by a river with fishermen
- a pair, both oil on copper
Provenance
Acquired by the late owners in 1979, for 65,000 Swiss francs.
Condition
Both copper supports are flat and stable, the varnish appears clear. Overall both panels are in excellent condition, with details on both beautifully-preserved, with no major damages.
For the former, inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish. It shows an area of restoration in the top right hand corner an in the uppermost branches of the tree on the right. For the latter, inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a very patchy varnish but there appears to have been very little restoration. There is one small scratch lower left of centre, visible in the catalogue image.
Both are offered in matching simple carved frames with faded gilding, in good condition.
