Condition

The canvas has a firm relining, which has resulted in a flattened paint surface. Although there are traces of impasto in the whites. The paint surface is clean. Craqulure can be seen throughout. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an even varnish and two campaigns of restoration. The first campaign is to the craqulure in the body, garments and head. The second, older campaign consists of retouchings to the easel, the left forearm. the left shoulder, the white garment above the palette, as well as localised retouching to the chin and hairline. The work is offered in a gilt molded frame with elaborate corners, in good condition.
