Provenance
Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 7 July 2006, lot 214, where acquired by the present owner.
Condition
The canvas has a recent, firm relining, which has somewhat flattened the paint surface, and a clear and even varnish. In fair overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some patches of strengthening to the clouds in the sky, upper left, and some minor spot retouchings throughout the sky. The building on the right has also been strengthened and there are retouchings throughout the foreground and to the buildings in the distance, centre.
Offered in a later, ebonised Dutch-style frame in very good condition.
