Bears unidentified collector's mark, verso (initials D.H.*.F. in a rectangle, not in Lugt)
Condition
Laid down. Paper discoloured, with mount-burn lines around edges, various stains, and a variety of marks along former creases and repaired tears. Ink nonetheless still strong and clear, and composition very readable. Sold in a modern gilded frame.

Catalogue Note
Though this has traditionally been considered an Italian drawing of around 1600, the figure types and facial morphology appear more Germano-Swiss, and of a somewhat earlier date, perhaps around 1570.
