Catalogue Note

This handsome and finished drawing by Lazzaro Baldi can be compared in style and technique to other drawings by the artist.  Although still Cortonesque, this shows a freer handling and a very pictorial use of the media with plenty of white bodycolour.  Comparable sheets in Düsseldorf represent: St. Rosa of Lima; St. Pedro de Alcàntara in Glory; St. Maria Maddalena de'Pazzi; and The Glory of St. Gaetano Thiene.1
