all inscribed with captions in German in gold and in French in red ink
Condition
All on vellum laid down on paper. 16 are mounted as four sets of four and two are mounted together. All in good condition, some slight staining at the corners of the sheet - otherwise all colours are extremely fresh and vibrant.

These charming costume drawings were designed for a book of 29 coloured engravings, Sammlung Augspurgischer Kleider-Trachten...Collection de divers habits usités dans la ville d'Augsbourg par les deux sexes. The book was published in Augsburg by the heirs of J.M. Moltz, in circa 1750 (Colas 2571; Lipperheide 771).
