with a customs stamp to the underside of the base inscribed: Der Landeskonservator für Salzburg

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is greening in some areas, particularly in the crevices and on the proper right knee. The bronze is a rough cast, and mould lines are visible, including on the head, neck and legs. There is an insert due to a casting flaw at the proper right heel. There are several lacunae, notably on the left side of the midriff by the cloak and on the proper right calf. Traces of gilding are visible throughout, particularly in the crevices of the cloak at the back. The figure is mounted on the base with two metal supports cast onto the proper left foot and the bottom rear respectively. There is plaster residue on the support at the proper left foot. There is a ball of wire placed loosely inside the bronze. There is dirt and wear to the wood base, including several nicks and scratches. There is plaster and lead filling in the holes into which the bronze is mounted.There is wear to the paint, particularly at the top edge.
