The sheet attached to the back of the mount front with brown paper tabs at various points around the edges. Brown paper edging strips around the edges, recto. There are some minor abrasions in the prepared surface of the central image. Presented in a decorative mount with a circular aperture, and with extensive, old labels on the back fo the frame, giving information about the painted commission to which this drawing relates. Sold in a carved and gilded frame.

Ce dessin est très probablement une copie du dessin de Prud'hon ayant appartenu à la collection Boisfremont (lot n°43 de sa vente, 9 avril 1870) lequel est conservé depuis 1978 au Städel de Francfort. La Sagesse et la Vérité descendant sur la Terre est une oeuvre de Prud'hon, présentée au Salon en 1799 ; elle est aujourd'hui conservée au musée du Louvre.
