Catalogue Note
A sugar urn by Boehme, similarly marked and monogrammed M, is at the Baltimore Museum of Art, see Goldsborough 1975, no. 81; this entry also references a matching coffee pot then on loan with the Art Institute of Chicago. The initial may be for a member of the May family; John May Jr. ordered a four-piece set from Boehme now at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, see Silver in Maryland, 1983, nos. 33-36.
