the first with hinged cover engraved with foliate initials JL, the sides with die-rolled grapevine; the second with hinged cover engraved with initials SF, inside cover with inscription "Snuff box once the property of Sally daughter of Genl. Persifor Frazer."

Catalogue Note

Persifor Frazer (1736-1792) was Lieutenant Colonel of the Fifth Pennsylvania Line during the American Revolutionary War. He was captured at the Battle of Brandywine and held as a prisoner of war in the Walnut Street prison in Philadelphia until his parole. He was later appointed as a brigadier general in the Pennsylvania militia. Following the war, Frazer was an iron manufacturer and merchant.
