Catalogue Note

This bowl or another of this model was created by Zimmerman in 1921 as a wedding gift for meatpacking heiress Lolita Armour, of Chicago and Santa Barbara; the set may have been commissioned by Albert and Adele Herter.  The shape was also made by the artist in copper, model 101; see Deborah Dependahl Waters, Joseph Cunningham, and Bruce Barnes, The Jewelry and Metalwork of Marie Zimmermann, pp. 64, 81-82 and fig. 2.24 and 3.1.
