Catalogue Note

The paper label lists other scientific and astronomical works that were originally bound with this copy: Anianus's Computus (issued with Sacro Bosco's Algorithmus, Strassburg: Prüss, 14 November 1488), "Opera materialis", Oresme's De latitudinibus formarum (Padua: Cerdonis, editions published in 1482 and 1486), Albumasar's Flores astrologiae (published by Ratdolt in Augsburg in 1488 and 1495), and lastly this Hyginus "cum imaginibus".

The first edition of Hyginus was published in Ferrara in 1475, with spaces left for the illustrations to be inserted by hand, and was subsequently published with allegorical illustrations of the planets, constellations and the signs of the Zodiac by Ratdolt in Venice in 1482. This is a reprint of that 1482 edition, using the same woodblocks.
