Catalogue Note

THE FIRST GREEK BOOK TO BE PRINTED IN ROME. The editio princeps of Pindar's victory odes had appeared two years earlier in Venice, printed by Aldus Manutius, though without the scholia included here. Aldus and Callierges were both renowned for the elegance of their Greek typefaces.
