8vo (178 x 108mm.), [2], 164 [i.e. 165], [1]pp., pp. 122-123 and 138-139 attached to foredge of preceding page to form a pull-out, written on blue paper in brown, black, blue and red ink, a few leaves with sections of the borders cut out to form a pattern and strips of coloured fabric added for decoration, each page within a black and red ruled border with a red headline in a blue cartouche, 14 full-page illustrations, numerous other smaller illustrations (including flowers and foliage, birds and insects, and views of churches) and calligraphic decoration, contemporary red vellum with gilt border, flat spine gilt, marbled endpapers, gilt edges, folding pages slightly creased at outer edges, binding slightly rubbed
