Catalogue Note

The first Aldine edition of Aulus Gellius, edited by Gian Battista Egnazio (1478-1553), who shouldered the editorial burden of the press in the months following the death of Aldus and enabled it to continue with business as usual.

This copy has the text in the first state, with "duerniorem" misspelt in the colophon and quire S incorrectly imposed.
