Catalogue Note

RARE: We have no record of the Sonata and Rondo appearing at auction for twenty years, and can trace no record for the other two items.  There are only a couple of copies of each edition in British libraries.   The Rondo K.494 was composed eighteen months before K.533, but it seems that Mozart himself arranged for them to be published together by his friend Franz Anton Hoffmeister. Hoffmeister, who was also a composer, issued editions somewhat fitfully and apparently in relatively small numbers.  The Rondo K.616 is for a mechanical organ, titled by Mozart in his autograph catalogue (4 May 1791) as "Ein Andante für eine Walze in eine kleine Orgel" ("an andante for a cylinder in a small organ").
