Catalogue Note

The Ballade op.24 is a large-scale work, a set of fourteen variations on the Norwegian folk melody 'Morning Song', quoted here.  The final notes in the left-hand parts here are B-flat and G-flat, whereas they are C and G-flat in the published edition by C.F. Peters of Leipzig (1876).  The same alteration was also made in another autograph quotation sold here in 1996.
