Catalogue Note
EDITIO PRINCEPS. Celerius had previously printed books in Venice and Padua and after a short stay in Treviso, where this was his first publication, he resumed printing in Venice at the end of 1480 until 1486.
Lampugnino Birago, a former pupil of Francesco Filelfo in MIlan, completed his substantial translation in 1468-1469 and dedicated it to Pope Paul II, for whom he had also translated some moral works of Plutarch and Basil the Great's Hexaemeron.
