Catalogue Note
"...Another year it will probably be the same story as I have reason to believe that your father does not like your coming to England!..."
Here Edward addresses his great-nephew with all the familiarity which he adopts in his letters to the Crown Prince's father, but with a jovial nod towards the contemptuous regard in which Wilhelm II held his son ("I was indeed sorry and at the same time not very surprised..."). On his previous visit to see his uncle in 1901, the young Wilhelm had enraged his father by bestowing upon the beautiful Gladys Deacon, whom he encountered at Blenheim, a ring known as "The Luck of Prussia", which Kaiser Wilhelm demanded he get back before returning immediately to Germany.
