Catalogue Note

Sicily was ruled by members of the house of Aragon from 1282 to 1409, then directly by the kings of Aragon until 1713. The three full-page woodcuts in this edition, of a king of Aragon enthroned taking advice from his lawyers, are considered to be in the manner of Titian, particularly as the final woodcut depicts a small dog at the foot of the image.
