Chancery folio (292 x 208mm.), 268 leaves, [a10 b-i8 k10 l-t8 u10 x8 y10 z A-H8 I-K6], double column, 44 lines, gothic type, woodcut printer's device beneath colophon, 4- to 5-line initials supplied in red, red initial-strokes and underlining, SIGNED BY THE RUBRICATOR, early manuscript title on first blank page, CONTEMPORARY AUSTRIAN BINDING of blind-stamped calf over square wooden boards, the two covers differently decorated, the upper cover filled with impressions of a lozenge-shaped lily-tool inside a floral border, lower cover divided horizontally by a double line of headed outline tools, each half decorated differently with diagonal strips, large and small rosettes, a lozenge-shaped stag, stars and quatrefoils and a line of characteristically Austrian knotwork, later paper lettering-piece on spine, two clasps lettered MARIA VI on catchplates and MARIA on straps, lettered along foot of textblock, in modern tan and brown buckram folding box with morocco lettering-pieces, some worming in binding and at beginning and end, new pastedowns, spine repaired at foot, lower joint cracked, metal bosses removed

Catalogue Note
This copy has two notes by the rubricator, Martinus Hehn, one in red ink at the end of the first section, and another in black ink at the end, dated 1484 and 1483: "martinus hehn filius fabri ex lambaco [Lambach, Upper Austria] comparavi hunc librum pro duobus libris t[ribus] d[anariis] anno domini 83 dum eram cappellanus in gebolzckirchn" (he is the son of a craftsman of Lambach, and that he bought the book for £2.3d while he was chaplain of Geboldzekirchen [Upper Austria]. He completed the rubrication in 1484.
