Condition

Oil on original canvas. There are some areas of craquelure scattered across the composition with some small flecks of paint loss in the upper left corner and another single fleck at the centre of the canvas. There is some light surface dirt across the picture and evidence of a surface bloom in the fiddler's coat. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of florescence or retouching. The work is presented in an ornate gilt frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
