Gift of the Artist

The sheet has been laid down onto a canvas by the artist. There are pinholes at the upper corners of the sheet which are in keeping with the Artist's working method. There are several light creases in the work including at the upper and lower right corners and along the vertical edges, with further small creases scattered throughout. There are some tiny flecks of paint loss, including but not limited, to an fleck below the figures arm at the right of the composition, another in his shorts and another just below his sword, with a further fleck in the blue pigment of the central figure's sash. There is some evidence of studio detritus and light dirt to areas of the work. With the exception of the above it appears to be in very good overall condition.
