Not viewed out of the frame. The sheet has been laid down onto canvas. There are pinholes at each of the four corners of the sheet, most likely inkeeping with the artist's working method. There are some small losses to the paper at the edges of the sheet. There is some craquelure across the work, which in some areas is also lifting slightly. In some areas, the paint surface is also slightly uneven, most likely inkeeping with the nature of the artist's materials. There is some surface dirt across the work, most apparent at the upper left edge, and some accretions around the edges, possibly detritus from a previous frame or mount. Under ultraviolet light the pigments appear to fluoresce slightly, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's materials. There are two very small areas of retouching, applied to the areas of canvas visible as a result of losses to the sheet at the upper horizontal edge.
