Condition

Not viewed out of the frame. The canvas appears sound. There appears to be some rubbing to the edges of the canvas, with some small flecks of associated paint loss in the upper corners and the lower left corner. There are some scattered areas of craquelure across the work, and some very minor areas of reticulation apparent in the painted stripes across the central rectangular form. There is some light surface dirt across the work, most apparent towards the right vertical edge. Subject to the above, the work appears in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is framed and glazed, held in a batten frame and float-mounted in a square-profile wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
