Condition

The sheet is attached to a supporting board with three tab along the upper edge. There are pinholes at the upper corners of the sheet, consistent with the artist's working method. There are creases in each of the four corners of the sheet and a diagonal tear measuring approximately 6cm. at the centre of the upper edge. There are further small scuffs along the edges of the sheet, with another small tear at the centre of the lower horizontal edge. There are several scratches to the sheet with some associated small areas of paint loss in the stove and in the grey figure directly above the stove with a further scuff to the upper left corner. There is some light surface dirt. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good overall condition and the pigments are strong and fresh. The work is float mounted in a window mount and presented in a gilt frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
