Catalogue Note
Heri Dono is deeply inspired by the Javanese shadow puppets or wayang figures and fuses them modern comics to create a contemporary version of wayang that makes them more universal. His multifaceted personality not only shows in his creativity in paintings, performances and installations, but also in his seriousness and sincerity in his art and art views.
