Catalogue Note
Budi likes balanced compositions, but also loves to represent the incredible on canvas. His bodies are depicted in positive or negative spaces, indicating appearance or disappearance, and defiance or adherence to the laws of gravity. The color green is prevalent in his works and is meant as a symbol of nature or culture. He also plays with scale and varies the height of his figures according to the meaning he wants the whole scene to impart.
