Condition
There is minor wear and pigment loss along the edges of the work (possibly inherent) and on the tree in the center right. Small areas of discoloration are visible particularly on the head of the woman, lower foreground and the house in the upper left. There is minor buckling and associated craquelere on the roof of the house in the right quadrant. Colors appear more saturated in print than in reality, particularly the two houses in the foreground.

Catalogue Note
After studying painting at Visva Bharati, Santiniketan, Akmal Husain was awarded a scholarship to study printmaking at the Kyoto Seika University in Kyoto, Japan. Husain went on to exhibit his works both in Japan and India and was awarded the Sovana Banik Scholarship by Kala Bhavana Santiniketan and the National Academy Award from Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. His works have been seen in corporate and noted private collections in Switzerland.
