Catalogue Note

Baiju Parthan initially trained as an artist in Goa where he was exposed to the art of the West. He then took a departure from art to study comparative mythology and computer engineering. Ten years later Parthan returned to the art world and began to produce works that addressed questions on cyberspace and the dispersal of multi-media imagery. The current work displays both his knowledge of Western art and his continued interest in graphics and technology, here he references a work from a Polish artist, Tamara Lempicka, Adam and Eve, 1931 .
