Condition

Spy: This work is in very good and sound condition overall. There is light evidence of pitting. There are variations in tone to the patina, likely a result of the work being placed outdoors. Two distinct green spot accretions are visible on the horse’s backside. A light dust has accumulated in the horse’s nostrils. Under close inspection, light and unobtrusive abrasions are visible on the base. Stephanie: This work is in good and sound condition overall. Under close inspection, bronze casting seams are visible along the figure’s waist and have opened slightly, but are not harmful to the work. The backside of the figure’s right shin has oxidized slightly where a bronze casting seam is visible. The figure’s right eyelid seems to have fallen off, leaving very a minor trace of glue residue visible only under close inspection and under raking light. Under close inspection, drip accretions and faint, unobtrusive abrasions are visible on the black base.
