Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The four canvases are separate from one another and are each unframed. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges of each canvas including some hairline craquelure along the edges and near the pull margins, all of which appear stable. The overall irregularities in tone to the paint appear inherent to the artistÂ’s intent and working method and have been furthered in some areas by previous exposure to water. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there are no areas in the four panels that fluoresce darkly. Left panel: There are areas of fine, hairline cracking visible mostly in the yellow-painted area, all of which appear to be stable. There is a white drip accretion at the left edge of the yellow-painted area. Center lower panel: The areas of faint drip residue are visible in the central blue painted area. There is a small area of craquelure in the central blue area and a hairline horizontal crack in the white border at the middle of the left edge. A faint white abrasion is visible in the green painted area. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned drips fluoresce lightly. Center top panel: The areas of faint drip residue are visible along the bottom in the red border. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned drips fluoresce lightly. Right panel: There are hairline cracks along the bottom edge, a small network of cracking in the lower left quadrant and radial cracking in the lower center, all of which appear to be stable. There is a white drip accretion in the bottom of the yellow painted area. There is minor paint loss at the extreme edges of the lower right and left corners.
