- jadeite
of quatrefoil section with flared sides rising from a slightly recessed base, carved in openwork with an elongated chilong clambering along the rim on one side, opposite a swooped phoenix perched on the other, the translucent stone of a variegated green colour with pale cloud inclusions and golden undertones heightened by a fine polish
Condition
This rare washer is in overall very good condition, The foot rim is slightly polished along the edge on one lobe on about 2 cm. possibly to conceal a chip. There is some expected occasional minor nibbling along the edges of the carving, and the rim has possibly been very lightly polished in some areas. The tip-end of the phoenix wings (as in the catalogue illustration) maybe polished to conceal chips.
