There are a few tiny nicks or nibbling to the edge of the rim of the cover, the rim of the box and footring but overall the box is in very good condition.

A slightly larger white jade circular box, the cover similarly carved with a shou (longevity) character and inscribed with a Qianlong reign mark, from the T.B. Kitson collection, was sold in our London rooms, 30th May 1961, lot 428, and again, 24th February 1970, lot 116; another was sold at Christie’s New York, 20th September 2005, lot 6; and a third, with bats around the shou character, is illustrated in Pierre-F.
