Catalogue Note

Diana, or Artemis in Greek, was the goddess of the hunt, the daughter of Jupiter and Latona and the twin sister of Apollo. Traditionally, she is portrayed in art wearing a short tunic, her head crowned with a crescent moon (referring to the Roman association with the Luna, the moon goddess), carrying a bow and quiver, and accompanied by a dog or stag.
