Provenance

Anonymous sale, ("Property of a Private Collector"), New York, Sotheby's, 3 June 1988, lot 138;
There purchased by Bernard Palitz.

Condition

The canvas has a glue relining and though the surface has been a little pressed in the background, the paitn surface overall is good and reads well. There are scattered minor retouches in the background that are faintly visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV is impeded by a milky varnish, there appears to be scattered minor retouching throughout though the fruits appear largely untouched. There is some possible minor strengthening to areas of the background at the edges of the painting and another area of approx. 2 by 1 in. on the ledge beneath the dish, one in the upper left corner and another on the left edge. The painting is ready to hang in its present state and requires no further work. Offered in a carved wood frame.
