Condition

The canvas has an old glue relining; the support is stable and in good condition. The paint surface is in good condition overall, with a fine cracquelure panel that is typical for the painting's age and is not distracting. There are some are of slight thinness in the boulders in the foreground and in the mountain in the background which were perhaps thinly painted and the area of foliage in the background at left is very slightly pressed but overall the painting reads well under a slightly dirty varnish. A reading under UV is impeded by the milky varnish. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame with a few minor nicks and losses.
